RUST PROOFING

 Rust proofing firearm

as a lifelong shooter i have stumbled upon two tricks to rustproof

your guns. the first is for blued guns you don't want to alter.

clean them thouroughly with CARBUERATOR/FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER ( i

prefer berrymans) i mean scrub them down good. be liberal with it.

then place them in a window in direct sunlight until they are hot

and all the cleaner is dry. you'll notice a thin white film. wipe it

off with a clean dry cotton cloth. the first time you do this you

may have to repeat the procedure. while it's still HOT soak it down

good with SPRAY SILICONE lubricant. i prefer the original GUNK

liquid wrench. get the stuff with silicone ONLY. it has a small seal

on the label that says SOLDER SEAL which was the company that

originated it before gunk bought them out. it was originally used to

seal printed circuit boards against moisture/corrosion. after you've

sprayed it down remove the firearm to a COOL place. the cooler the

better. like in front of the AC etc. by doing this the moisture/old

oil is driven out of the metal by the heat and ether ( cleaner) and

is replaced by the silicone when it cools drawing it into the metal.

your firearm will NEVER RUST AGAIN. after that you can clean it as

normal.

the second way is for old shooters that you don't care about

altering. you may think this is crazy but trust me it works.

disassemble the firearm and scrub the parts down with 3M brightenr

pad. down to the shiny metal. then spray eveything with SALTWATER

and leave it outside under the night sky until a nice even thin coat

of rust forms. rinse it down gently with water ( don't wipe) to

remove any saltwater residue then place in the direct sun until HOT

and DRY. while it's still hot spray with RUST CONVERTER. and let

dry. the result is a finish that resembles the finish on an m-16 and

it wil NOT RUST AGAIN. EVER! you can bury in directly in the ground

for years ( i tested it by doing this with an old axehead and buried

it for four years and no rust) and it WILL NOT RUST AGAIN. providing

of course that you do a good job of it paying attention to nooks and

crannies etc.
