screen protector hack

i got tired spending $15 for a screen protector. here's what i came up with.

 use clear vinyl packing tape.

you will need tape, water mister, credit card and exacto knife and paper towel.

it would help to have an extra pair of hands.

turn phone off.

cut a pice of tape longer than needed.

water mist both sides.

water mist the phone. don't overdo it. i spray mist in the air and wave the phone through it.

place tape on the screen glue side down.

adjust to where it needs to be.

squeegee the water out from under tape with credit card START IN MIDDLE and work outwards, blotting excess water as it emerges from edges.

trim to fit with blade.

finish squeegee the edges so they stick down.

blot phone dry.

depending on the brand and age of the tape there may be milky streaks.

they will dissappear after awhile.

turn phone on. the heat will help.

if you don"t get it right rip off and try again.

if there is tiny bubbles you can puncture them with a pin and squeegee off.

the first one i did lasted two years. saved screen numerous times.

to replace worn one simply peel off old one and clean glue off screen with actone or fingernail polish remover.

rubbing alcohol works but takes more effort.

clean screen well.

replace new as above.
